Budapest - Hungary: The City of Thermal Spas

We wanted to run in Budapest but just couldn't find the strength or motivation to do it. The many days of sinful living eating nothing but meat and beer has sapped our will to crawl out of the bed early in the morning. The intensity of our "Death Marches" around the Castle Hills of Buda and museums have left our feet sore. We badly need a good massage or a hot soak in an Onsen.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is also known as the City of Spas with more than 100 thermal springs dotted all around the city. The Unfit runners have been to many baths in the world, ranging from the Onsen in Japan, Wenquan in Taiwan and Moorish baths in Spain. I will say that the look and feel of the thermal bath in Budapest is definitely different. While the baths in Spain and Japan have a more exclusive and private feel to them, the baths in Budapest are bigger and are often visited by families.

Indonesia Manado Scuba Diving Trip - Lembeh Strait

Bastiano at Lembeh
Lembeh island, unlike Bunakean, is only a 10 min boat ride from the mainland. Along the Lembeh straits, there are fishing ports, mining activities and factories churning out grey smokes from their exhaust. I was thinking, "Why is this place such a famous diving spot with all these human activities all along the coast?"

Indonesia Manado Scuba Diving Trip - Bunaken

The View from outside the resort room
Manado situated at the northern tip of the Indonesia Sulawesi island is a major shipping hub between the resource rich eastern islands of Indonesia, China, Japan and Philippines. It also boast some of the most diverse scuba diving experience in the world. The diving group consist of the same batch of unfitters who went on the Pulau Dayang and Aur trip: Crippled, marathon girl and Mr L. This is a 6 days 5 night trip and consist of 11 dives: 6 dives at The island of Bunaken and 5 dives at the island of lembeh. Silkair has a daily flight to Manado and the air fare is pretty standard throughout the year at 450 SGD. This trip is jointly organized by Simply Scuba and Submersible. A short 4 hrs plane ride later, we were whisked off on car and boat to the island of Bunaken. To our horror, we realized that we forgot to bring along something essential for the trip: beer, coke and potato chips, all thanks to the efficiency of the organizers that we did not have time to stop by a nearby supermart on the mainland.

Pulau Aur & Dayang - Liveaboard Diving Trip. SeaSick!

Sunset on the Sun Deck
This weekend, we are off for a weekend scuba diving live onboard trip to Pulau Aur and Pulau Dayang in West Malaysia. Although SG Unfit runners is primary about running around interesting spots around Singapore, I think the main objective of the blog is about taking time to workout and enjoy the great outdoors for a bunch of aging unfit folks. So, I will blog about some interesting aspects of this trip, in case you are thinking of taking up Scuba Diving.

Batam Waterfront City - Cable Skiing, Non-Existence Running Tracks

This weekend, we ventured to Batam Waterfront and tried out the Cable Ski Park! Since our weekly run in Singapore had been cancelled due to the Batam trip, I decided to take a bit of initiative to do an exploratory run around Harris Resort, where we decided to stay for a night.

The very nice pool at Harris. Swimming is friendlier than Running!
A short introduction to our Cable Ski activities since it involves Unfit Runners doing some upper body workout. I guess the videos will give the readers a good idea how well we fared during our first tryouts at cable skiing.
